CDex extraction audio is a CD ripper for Windows users. The application has been around for a long time and it takes a rather different approach than other applications. For starters, this is an open-source project, meaning that it is absolutely free and it accepts collaborations from anyone who wants to participate in the project. Also, the code is freely available for anyone to download. Also, it supports old(er) operative systems, like Windows 95. Thus, it is still one of the favorites by people who refuse to step into this century. This CD ripper allows you to extract songs from Audio CDs directly into .WAV files. It also supports several encoders that allow you to convert those files or rip directly to other formats; the two more popular being .MP3 and .OGG. The application is not the best in terms of speed, but is stable enough and works in a bunch of Windows versions. However, being an open-source application, it takes the effort of many programmers to develop a product worthy of acclaim. Still, this will rip your CDs alright. And since it is free, there is nothing we can complain about.
A versatile tool to convert your DVD/Blu-ray discs into Apple-compatible media.

1) Experimental Hybrid version 1.70 beta 4 (recommended). = File version: 1.70.4 (I have this one).
2) Unicode version (Win 7 / Vista / 2003 / XP / 2000 /NT) - beta 2, 2009 update. = File version probably: 1.70.4.2009 (now reported as latest version in software informer).
3) Non-Unicode version (Win 95 / NT / 98 / ME). - beta 2, 2009 update. = File version unknown to me.
So versions 1.70.4 (hybrid) and 1.70.4.2009 (unicode) are basicly both the same (and latest) beta program versions.
